I had the pleasure of fishing 2 guys from the Austin area.  The day dawned clear and calm. We headed to some deep water area and managed a good bite for trout. We had our limit of 20 specks, 1 nice sheephead, and 20 sand trout by 9:30 am. So we headed in and went looking for reds and drum. We found a lot of small reds, and managed to catch 2 nice reds and a really nice flounder before calling it a day. Thanks guys for a great day on the water and look forward to having more with you.

I had the pleasure of fishing a couple from Karnes City area today. The day dawned windy and I had hoped to get outside but that was out. We worked several areas that had been producing fish and found fish, reds and drum, just couldn't get them to bite. He caught his first bull drum, a nice 34'', sorry about the picture, I haven't gottten the nack of taking pictures with my phone yet.
We caught lots of small reds, next year will be a good year from all the rats we are catching now. But luck did change and we managed two nice reds.
Thanks folks for a great day on the water and look forward to having you back again.

I had the pleasure of fishing 2 guys from Houston area, who bought the trip from Shriner's Hospital Benefit put on by WestEndAnglers. We had a good day catching numbers of reds, but I just couldn't get them to stretch to the mark. We worked areas that held fish but had a tough time finding keepers. The guys were great and I look forward to having you back again.

I had the pleasure of fishing a couple from the Tom Ball area and their son today. We got lucky, the wind was down so we headed to Corpus Christi Bay and found some nice trout biting. We caught sand trout and speckled trout, mom hooked up and landed her largest red, a 33''.(see picture below) The bite slowed down and we made a few moves before the wind came up, but never could get the bite going again. We came back in and work the flats for reds, caught a nice drum, but after several stops we finally found the reds and luck would have it we caught several nice flounder too. Thanks folk for a super day on the water and look forward to having you back again soon.

I had an old friend that grew up with me, from Abilene, and his buddy from Breckenridge out today. Steve (from Breckenridge) had never caught a redfish, so I was hoping to get him hooked up. The first few stops didn't produce anything, I was sure getting disappointed after yesterday leaving the reds biting. About 10 a.m.  I decided to head to some deep water structure and see if anything was there. A couple of weeks ago the weather was nice and we tried it to no avail. But this time luck was in our favor, we got a trout bite going and limited out (they were 15 1/2 to 18''). We did make a stop for reds on the way home and Steve got his first red. Thanks guys for a great day on the water and look forward to having you back again soon.

I had the pleasure of fishing a young man and his dad from the Houston area today.
The morning started off cool and mainly clear, light north winds, we started working the edge of the flats for reds, with live shrimp and cut mullet. After several moves and only 1 17inch rat red we made a move to an area that had produced fish a few days before, but we had bait fish and we had not been able to find them this morning. We saw reds and bait working on the next stop, just couldn't get anything going. We moved to a drop off and worked the edges and the bite was on. Normally this time of year, the fish have schooled up and are in pods of 3-4'' of each other, but not today. They caught fish from 8 - 28'' in the same area. Dad got his largest the 28'' today. Thanks guys for a great day on the water and look forward to having you back again soon.

I had the pleasure of fishing a man and wife and his brother from Karnes City area today, we also had 3 of his key employees on another boat. The weather was rough, wind 25 -35 mph out of the north with the first cold front of the year ( low 50's for October for us is cold), the norther blew in around mid night and the bay water was headed to the jetties. I decided to head to a protected cove and thought we might find some nice reds, and the luck was on our side, we had trouble getting the anchor to hold in the mud and ended up bowing into the wind and everyone was fishing off the back of the boat. No problem for this group of experienced anglers. The current was moving the bait right to left in a big hurry, but the bite was good and in about 1 hour we had our limit of 23 - 26'' reds, called the other group over and watched as 2 of them had not fished saltwater before and get a taste of fast and furious red fishing. We headed to another protected area and the wife picked up a nice black drum on the first cast. After several small reds and missed fish, we headed back to take a group picture and clean fish.
Folks thanks for a great day on the water and look forward to having you back again soon.

Fished 3 guys today, 2 of them have fished with me before and a friend of theirs.
Fishing has been tough most of the time for the last week, but the first stop we made, I was hoping to find some drum, but we got into the rat reds. Nearly every bite we would  catch one up to 19 3/4''. We made several moves trying to get out of the small ones, but couldn't find any keepers. After many moves, seems like we would get 1 rat per stop on most stops. We worked clear water, reefs, drops, cloudy water, still no keeper reds. Finally we hit them and managed 9 keeper and 2 undersized. The first fish of the day was a keeper trout and the only legal one we would catch.
Thanks guys for a great day on the water and look forward to many more trips with you.

I had 4 guys from San Antonio and we had a great time catching small fish, we had to really work to find keepers. Keepers seemed to be scattered, which is way off normal for this time of year. October usually brings in flood tides, but they were late getting here and then the northers started blowing and sucked out the water and seems like we can't get it back. We managed some keepers, but not what I wanted to happen. Some of these guys were here in August and we had a super day and I wanted to repeat it, but we still had a great time and look forward to having you guys back again.

An old friend and classmate of mine came down and we fished this morning, it dawned clear and calm and luck was with us. The first stop produced 5 nice keeper reds and several smaller fish. We drifted and threw spoons and lures for a few hours just enjoying the day before we headed back and he had to head home.
Thanks for a great day and look forward to seeing you again soon.
